17-21 July 2008 sees the first ever International Youth Advisory Congress (IYAC) as up to 150 young people and children from all around the world come together in London to meet with representatives from across government, the police, child protection communities and the online and mobile industries. The theme is online safety and security.
The result will be the Children and Young Persons Global Online Charter. This will build the roadmap and strategy for industry, government, law enforcement and education sectors to sign up with a strategy that ultimately will be presented to the UN in October as part of the 2008 Resolution of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Are you on board?
Who is behind IYAC?
IYAC is an industry sponsored initiative led by the UK’s dedicated organisation for tackling the sexual abuse of children – the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre and is supported by the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT). The VGT is an international alliance of law enforcement agencies focused on protecting children from sexual exploitation. It is made up of partners from Europe, US, Australia and Canada as well as Interpol.
When is IYAC being held?
